National Developments

National housing and planning policy, including HMOs, is the responsibility, since the Government re-organisation of May 2006, of the Department for Communities & Local Government. Since June 2007, the ministerial team has included Hazel Blears MP (Secretary of State), Caroline Flint MP (Minister of State for Housing, January 2008), John Healey MP (Minister of State for Local Government), Parmjit Dhanda MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Cohesion & Neighbourhoods) and Iain Wright MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Planning). 1985 Housing Act [Section 345 defines HMO as a house occupied by persons who do not form a single household]
